Note: You must engage a mobile marketing partner to deliver the voice messages that you create and manage in the application. Contact your account manager for more information.
Voice is a type of Message delivered to your subscribers' telephone or voicemail. You can create a voice message by recording an audio file or by writing text that is converted to speech by the system. You send voice messages to a single subscriber in response to a subscriber action or to a list of voice message subscribers.
Sending a voice message includes the following steps:
Create a data extension to contain the subscriber to whom to send the message. The data extension must have:
Create a publication list to categorize the content of the message. For example, you might create one publication list to categorize messages sent as WEATHERALERTS and a different publication list to categorize messages sent as COUPONS.
Create a voice message interaction. The voice message interaction contains the name, external key, and description of the message to identify and describe the message in the application and with the API.
The interaction is also where you specify the publication list. If the voice message is to be sent to a list, you select the data extension to send to here as well.
You can enter or select the content of the voice message on the interaction:
Using the API, you can trigger a voice message in response to a subscriber activity.
Note: Text in the VoiceTriggeredSendDefinition.Message.TextBody field overrides the message entered or selected on the voice message interaction.
You can include a voice message interaction in a program to be completed in sequence with other messages and activities. You can run the program on a scheduled or recurring basis.
Use a voice message to send a timely message to a subscriber. For example, you might use a voice message to announce a weather alert. Voice messages are more likely to get the subscriber's attention immediately than email messages or text messages, and they are also shorter and less permanent.
