How to Create a Smart Capture Form from the My Contents Folder
Use this procedure to create a Smart Capture form outside of a particular landing page. To create a Smart Capture form within a particular landing page, see the procedure How to Create a Smart Capture Form Within a Landing Page.
Before you begin this procedure, you must create the subscriber list, data extension, or external object to update with the lead information you capture. After you complete this procedure, you can include the Smart Capture form in one or more landing pages.
Use the following steps to create a Smart Capture Form from the my content folder:
Click the Content navigation tab.
Click my contents. The my contents workspace appears.
Click the Create Content button in the toolbar. The Store Content window appears.
Complete the Store Content window and click Next:
Content Name - The name of the Smart Capture form.
Location - The folder within the my contents folder that contains the Smart Capture form.
Select the Smart Capture orientation and click Next.
Complete the Define Form Processing window and click Next. The value you select in this field determines the fields that are available and required on your lead capture form:
Subscriber List - Select this option if you want to update a subscriber list with the information entered in the form. If you select this value, you must select the list to be updated.
Data Extension - Select this option if you want to update a data extension with the information entered in the form. If you select this value, you must select the data extension to be updated.
External Source - Select this option if you want to update an external source with the information entered in the form. Currently, the only supported external source is Salesforce.com objects.
Complete the Content Area Properties window and click Next. All of the values you select here can be overridden later in the editor:
Border Size - Determines the size of the border around the content area.
Border Color - Determines the color of the border around the content area.
Background Color - Determines the background color of the content area.
Padding - Determines the space between the content in the content area and the border.
Default Font - Determines the default font for text in the content area.
Click Save.
How to Create a Smart Capture Form Within a Landing Page
Before you begin this procedure, you must create the subscriber list, data extension, or external object to update with the lead information you capture. After you complete this procedure, you can include the Smart Capture form in one or more landing pages.

Open the landing page to which to add the Smart Capture form.
Click the button to create content in a content area. The Email Content wizard appears.
Click the Smart Capture orientation and click Next.
Complete the Define form processing window and click Next. The value you select in this field determines the fields that are available and required on your lead capture form:
