Using ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 with an Enterprise 2.0 AccountFrom $1This document provides conceptual and procedural information regarding the use of the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration with the ExactTarget Enterprise 2.0 platform. Mapping ExactTarget and Microsoft Dynamics CRM UsersYou must map users in ExactTarget and Dynamics CRM to each other in order for the integration to function effectively. The ExactTarget API user is provisioned at the parent Enterprise 2.0 Business Unit level. In Microsoft Dynamics CRM, that API user is tied to the Dynamics CRM installation by a service user. For more information on configuring that user, please refer to the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Installation Guide. When configuring your integration, you can map users needing access to the integration to any users created in any Business Unit within the Enterprise 2.0 account structure. When you map ExactTarget users to Dynamics CRM users, you can choose from all users within the Enterprise 2.0 account structure. Attribute MappingAttributes store information about your subscribers. By mapping attributes in ExactTarget to Dynamics CRM attributes, the tools can share that information. All accounts within an Enterprise 2.0 structure can use subscriber attributes. However, those attributes must be created at the Enterprise level. Once these attributes are created, you can use them across all Enterprise Business Units for personalization. User Permissions in ExactTarget and Dynamics CRMAll permissions regarding user actions within ExactTarget are controlled by the role-based security model in Enterprise 2.0. Be sure to assign an administrator role to the ExactTarget API account used to connect to the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration. Any email behavioral data, such as whether a specific user can view the tracking of a specific send, is governed by Dynamics CRM role-based security. Emails Available to Dynamics CRM usersA Dynamics CRM user that is mapped to an ExactTarget user will only see the emails located in the My Emails hierarchy for that ExactTarget user's default Business Unit. They cannot view or use shared emails or emails associated with that user in other Business Units besides their default Business Unit. Re-subscribing an Unsubscribed Contact, Lead, or AccountYou can re-subscribe Contacts, Leads or Accounts in the Dynamics CRM toolbar menu on the Contact, Lead, or Account screen, as appropriate. You must re-subscribe as a Dynamics CRM user mapped to an ExactTarget user with the same default Business Unit as the one used for the original send. If you need additional help with re-subscribing a Contact, Lead, or Account, contact your ExactTarget representative and be prepared to provide the Dynamics CRM GUID of the Contact, Lead, or Account in question. That GUID can be found at the end of the URL for the record in question, as shown in the highlighted example below: http://example.com/MicrosoftCRM/sfa/.../edit.aspx?id={D14D44AD-36D0-DC11-AA32-0003FF33509E} TrackingIn Dynamics CRM, you can view tracking data for any email send associated with a user account, no matter what Business Unit originated that send. You can view tracking data in ExactTarget for an email send in the default Business Unit for the mapped Dynamics CRM user that initiated the send from the Dynamics CRM instance. For example, if John from Northern Trails initiated a send from Dynamics CRM with a default Business Unit of Northern Trails, anybody with access to that Business Unit could see the available tracking data.
