Upgrading ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics from 3.0 to 4.0

    This guide contains conceptual, procedural, and scenario information about upgrading your ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 integration to support Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Use this guide if you are upgrading your CRM instance from 3.0 to 4.0. The process at a high level involves un-installing the integration, upgrading your CRM instance, and then re-installing the ExactTarget integration.

    Prerequisites

    You must have a valid instance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 to complete the upgrade. You must also contact your ExactTarget representative to get the most current installer for the integration.

    Why Upgrade ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics from 3.0 to 4.0

    If you upgrade your instance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Microsoft Dynamics 4.0, you must upgrade the connector if you wish to integrate that instance with the ExactTarget application.

    How to Upgrade ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics from 3.0 to 4.0

    Choose the set of instructions for the version of Microsoft Dynamics 3.0 currently installed for your instance:

    • Dynamics CRM 3.0, V2
    • Dynamics CRM 3.0, V1 

    ExactTarget 3.0 V2 to 4.0 Upgrade

    This section includes step-by-step detail for the upgrade process from ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 V2 to ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. The upgrade process consists of uninstalling ExactTarget 3.0 V2, upgrading ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, and then installing ExactTarget 4.0.

    1. Launch the uninstaller.

    2. Select the type of uninstall you want to perform. If you are uninstalling the integration into a cluster of CRM servers, the Web Only and Connector Only options will need to be used. Click Next to continue the un-installation.

      NOTE: You might get the following dialogs which state that the Services or Configuration Utility applications were identified as running. Close out of these applications prior to continuing the uninstall.

    3. Check your uninstall progress. The following command window will display during uninstall. The progress bar on the uninstaller gives an indication of the uninstaller's progress.

    4. Click Finish to exit the uninstaller.

    5. Follow the Installation steps in the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Installation Guide.
    6. Run the following SQL query on your _MSCRM database to migrate historical behavioral data to use the native CRM 4.0 relationship.
    Update campaignresponseextensionbase

set et_exacttargetsendid = et_exacttargetjobid

where et_exacttargetjobid is not null

    ExactTarget 3.0 V1 to 4.0 Upgrade

    This section includes step-by-step detail for the upgrade process from ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 V1 to ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. The upgrade process consists of uninstalling ExactTarget 3.0 V1, upgrading ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, and then installing ExactTarget 4.0.

    1. Navigate to Add/Remove Programs on the CRM server.
