Uninstalling ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM

    You might uninstall ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the course of fixing issues with customizations or in preparation to install an upgrade.

    NOTE: Before beginning this process, make a backup of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM database prior to performing this procedure.

    Option 1: Use Uninstall Wizard

    Uninstall ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM using the uninstall tool provided. Follow these steps to uninstall ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0:

     

    1. In your Dynamics CRM server, click Start.
    2. Select All Programs.
    3. Select ExactTarget.
    4. Select Uninstall ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM.

    5. Complete the Uninstall Wizard. You have the option to uninstall the Web component only, the Connector component only, or both the Web and Connector components. If you installed only the Web Only or Connector Only component on the server, you should uninstall the same component. If you installed both components on the same sever, you should uninstall both components.  The uninstaller uninstalls the components you selected.

    Option 2: Uninstall Manually

    If the uninstall tool fails to totally remove the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, follow these steps to uninstall the software manually:

    1. Launch IIS.
    2. Remove the exacttarget and website from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM v4.0 website.
    3. Remove the ExactTargetApps application pool from Application Pools.
    4. Delete the C:\Program Files\ExactTarget Destination Folder field of the Choose Connector/Utilities Directory step of the installation.
    5. Delete the C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ExactTarget directory.  The location of this directory depends on the value you entered in the Destination Folder field of the Choose Web Directory step of the installation.
    6. Click Start.
    7. Select Run.
    8. Enter regedit and choose OK.
    9. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\
    10. Delete the ExactTarget folder.

    Completing the Uninstall

    A complete uninstall of ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM will remove all of your customizations and delete the related data. Do not perform this procedure unless you need to permanently remove this data.

    Uninstall Customized Entities

    1. Click the Settings tab in Dynamics CRM.
    2. Click Customizations in the navigation bar.
    3. Select Customize Entities in the View field.
    4. Delete the customizations with names containing the "et_" prefix in the following order:
      • Link Detail (et_exacttargetlinkdetail)
      • Send List (et_exacttargetjoblist)
      • Send Link (et_exacttargetjoblink)
      • ExactTarget Send (et_exacttargetjob)
      • DynamicOwnerRule (et_dynamicownerrule)

    Update Marketing List Entity

    1. In the Customize Entities window, open the Marketing List entity.
    2. Click Forms and Views under Details in the left-hand navigation bar.
    3. Open the entity labeled Form.
    4. Select the ExactTarget section. A green outline appears around the selection.

    5. Click the Remove button in the Common Tasks pane to the right of the window.
    6. Click the Save and Close button on the toolbar.
    7. Select Publish from the Actions menu to publish the marketing list.  The system removes the field from the form view.
    8. Click Attributes under Details in the left-hand navigation bar.
    9. Delete the et_showingexacttargetlistcenter attribute.
    10. Select Publish from the Actions menu to publish the marketing list.  The system removes the attribute.

    Update Campaign Response Entity

    1. In the Customize Entities window, open the Campaign Response entity.
    2. Click Forms and Views under Details in the left-hand navigation bar.
    3. Select the ExactTarget Responses section and click the Delete button in the toolbar just above that section.
    4. Open the Campaign Response Associated View.
    5. Scroll right and remove the following columns in the following order:

      • Last Clicked
      • Last Opened
      • Total Clicks
    6. Click the Save and Close button on the toolbar.
    7. Open the Form.
    8. Remove the ExactTarget Send tab.
    9. Click the Save and Close button on the toolbar.
    10. Select Publish from the Actions menu to publish the marketing list.  The system publishes the removal.
    11. Delete each of the attributes in the Marketing List with names containing the "et_" prefix. You must delete each attribute individually.

    Update the Sitemap/ISV.config

    1. Create a new Solution in Dynamics CRM.
    2. Navigate to the Components menu on the left menu bar.
    3. Select Client Extensions.
    4. Click Add Existing.
    5. Add Applications Ribbons and Site Map.
    6. Export the solution as unmanaged.
    7. Open the resulting .ZIP file.
    8. Edit the customizations.xml file to remove all ExactTarget buttons and links.
    9. Reimport the solution and publish customizations.
