Controls for ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

This document contains conceptual and procedural information regarding the use of controls in ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. You can use these controls to access and modify information regarding your ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM installation.

What Are the Controls for ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

Controls for ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 give you the ability to control and access different information regarding your Dynamics CRM installation.

When you install ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you can access ExactTarget functionality in three places in the Dynamics CRM interface:

  1. The ExactTarget menu on the toolbar
  2. The ExactTarget tab on the navigation bar
  3. The Settings tab on the navigation bar

The ExactTarget Menu

The ExactTarget menu on the Dynamics CRM toolbar gives you access to the following functions:

  • Access ExactTarget launches the standalone ExactTarget application in a new browser window.
  • About displays the ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM version information. If updates are available, you can see them here.

ExactTarget Tab

The ExactTarget tab on the Dynamics CRM navigation bar gives you access to the following ExactTarget functions:

  • Accounts sends email and displays email history for one or more accounts.
  • Activities accesses all campaign responses specific to ExactTarget.
  • Contacts displays a list of all individual contacts from your ExactTarget account.  Double-click a contact to send email and view email history for that contact. You can also resubscribe an unsubscribed contact on this screen, depending on your permissions.
  • Leads displays a list of leads from your Dynamics CRM system.  Double-click a lead to send email and view the email history for that lead.
  • Marketing Lists accesses marketing lists, to which you can send ExactTarget emails.
  • Campaigns accesses campaigns, to which you can send ExactTarget emails.
  • Reports accesses several different kinds of reports, each with descriptive information about the kind of information the report returns.  Double-click your preferred report, enter the required information, and click Run Report to view the results.  The following reports are available:

  • ExactTarget Sends accesses sends for campaigns and individuals. Double-click a send to display the information for the send and a navigation pane with more options:
    • Information accesses general information about an ExactTarget send.
    • Workflows displays more information on system jobs.
    • Campaign Responses accesses individual tracking for a campaign. Double-click an entry to display a screen with Campaign Response information, ExactTarget Send information, and notes.
    • Send Links accesses all links containedwithin an ExactTarget email. Double-click a link to see Information and Link Details.
    • Send Lists accesses marketing lists for an ExactTarget send.
  • ExactTarget Emails accesses emails that were created in ExactTarget. You can double-click an email to edit the content. 
  • ExactTarget Resources accesses documentation and help for your ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM installation from the ExactTarget website. 
  • Email Marketing Automation accesses all of your automated marketing programs and allows you to create or deactivate those programs. 

Settings Tab

When you install ExactTarget for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, additional advanced functionality is available to your Dynamics CRM system administrator through the Settings tab in the navigation bar. Click Settings in the navigation window and select ExactTarget in the Settings navigation window to find tools that allow you to:

  • Map Dynamics CRM users to ExactTarget users, which allows the two programs to work together.
  • Map Dynamics CRM fields to ExactTarget attributes, which allows you to include dynamic content and personalization in your ExactTarget emails.
  • Configure the CRM Dynamic Owner.
  • Retrieve Email Tracking Data.
