Setup and Customization of the ExactTarget for AppExchange Integration

Salesforce Setup

The ExactTarget integration with Salesforce requires some basic setup in your Salesforce account (as described in the customization guide).

If you do not see the sections or fields described in the customization guide in your Salesforce account, the cause is one of the following:

• Your ExactTarget integration with Salesforce was not set up correctly or completely. Contact your system administrator and refer to the Adding Custom Links page.
• Your Salesforce administrator has customized the integration by renaming, relocating, or adding sections and fields. Contact your Salesforce system administrator for assistance.

ExactTarget Setup

The following setup is required within the ExactTarget application (as outlined in the guides for the Professional edition and the Enterprise and Unlimited editions):

• Designate a Salesforce username and password to be used by the ExactTarget application to access your Salesforce account and retrieve recipient data and post tracking results.
  

  NOTE: This Salesforce tracking user's password must be 40 characters or less.

• Assign user records for all users who will be sending emails to Leads, Contacts or Campaigns from within Salesforce.  
• Map ExactTarget attributes with Lead, Contact and Account fields for the purpose of personalizing emails.

Additionally, all emails that you send are created and maintained in the ExactTarget application.
