This page provides conceptual, scenario, and procedural information about the BrandBuilder in the ExactTarget application.

    What Is BrandBuilder

BrandBuilder is private-labeling tool. Based on the colors of the logo you upload, BrandBuilder provides you with several predesigned color schemes. The color scheme is then applied to the ExactTarget application so your users have a branded experience.

The color scheme you choose is applied to the following areas:

Before you continue, please note the following information:

    • The logo that you upload must be in either JPG or GIF format.
    • The recommended size of the logo is 600 pixels wide by 60 pixels high.
    • You follow the same steps whether you're creating a brand or modifying an existing brand. However, when you modify an existing brand, note that you are actually overwriting it with new color data. If you created a custom color scheme for the brand, you can't see that color scheme as an option when walking through these steps for that brand.

    Why Use BrandBuilder

Use BrandBuilder to discover color schemes that match your company's logo. You can use the color scheme when you design your email template in order to maintain brand integrity.

    Scenario

Northern Trail Outfitters wants to create a color scheme based off their logo. They open the BrandBuilder page by clicking the Admin tab and BrandBuilder.

They click start now and upload the company logo.

They click Next, and the application auto-generates seven different branding schemes.

Northern Trail Outfitters chooses the color scheme they prefer and clicks Next. The BrandBuilder workspace displays the chosen colors and a preview of what a page would look like using that color scheme.

Northern Trail Outfitters has the option of adjusting these colors by clicking on the color box and choosing a new color in the color palette. Once the color scheme is sufficient, they click Next. BrandBuilder displays previews of the Application Screen and the Logon Screen. They click Next again.

The BrandBuilder generates the new color scheme while the status is displayed in a dialog box. Once the dialog box disappears, Northern Trail Outfitters clicks Finish and the brand is applied to the application.

The Choose Your Color Scheme page appears in the workspace.

How to Choose Your Color Scheme

To choose your color scheme, your first must create a new brand and upload your logo, then follow these steps:

The application looks at the color of the upper-left pixel in your logo and displays it in the Header Color field at the top of the Choose Your Color Scheme page. This color is what the application uses to build seven color schemes from which you can choose.

    1. If you want to change the header color and build a new set of color schemes: Your first step on the Choose Your Color Scheme page is to adjust the header color if desired. If you like the header color as it is, go on to Step 9.
      You have the following options:
      • If you know the HTML code for the color, enter that code in the Header Color text box and click Get Schemes to have the application rebuild the available color schemes.
      • You can also click the Header Color colored box to bring up the Color Picker dialog box.
        • On the Web Palette tab of this dialog box, you can click the desired color from the palette.
        • Or you can pick a color from the palette on the Named Colors tab, which offers the advantage of showing you the name of the color that you pick.
        • As a third option, you can click the Custom Colors tab and manually adjust the Red, Green, and Blue values of the color until you build the color you want.
When done picking your new color, click OK in the Color Picker dialog box and then click Get Schemes to have the application rebuild the available color schemes.
    2. Click the desired color scheme to highlight it. If you want to design your own color scheme from scratch, click the Build Your Own option to highlight it.
Note: Even if you choose one of the predesigned color schemes, you have the opportunity to tweak the colors in the next step of the process.
    1. Click the Next button.
The Modify Your Color Scheme page appears in the workspace.

A new browser window opens, showing your branded colors at full size. Click OK in the countdown dialog box to return to BrandBuilder (you are returned automatically in 12 seconds).
    2. When satisfied with your brand, click the Next button.
The application now builds your brand. When done, it displays the Associate Your Brand page.

    How to Associate Your Brand

The Associate Your Brand page lists the subaccounts associated with your administrative account. To associate your brand, follow these steps:

    1. Select the check box beside each account to which you want to apply this brand.
    2. Click the Finish button.
You have finished building your brand. When users log in to the accounts associated with this brand, they see the new color scheme. However, as soon as they log in, they see the branded application page, and the next time they log in from the same machine, they see the branded login page.)
