    Description

When you select the Data Extension extract type, enter the following information in the fields section:

    • Enter the character you want to use to delimit each column. The ExactTarget application defaults to a comma, but you can enter the word tab if you want a tab-delimited file or | if you want a pipe-delimited file.
    • Enter the data extension's external key in the DECustomerKey field.
    • If you want the file to include column headers, click the HasColumnHeaders checkbox.
    • If you want text within the data extension to appear within double quotation marks, click the TextQualified checkbox.
    • If you want the file to use line feeds, click the UsesLineFeed checkbox.

You should then create a file transfer activity with the radio button set to Upload and the name of the file from the data extension data extract in the File Naming Pattern field.

Once both the data extract and the file transfer activity are saved, create a program that includes the data extract as the first step and the file transfer activity as the second step. You can run the program once or set it to run at scheduled times. Use third-party FTP software to move the file from your chosen file location to your computer.
