This page contains conceptual and procedural information about connecting your development environment to the ExactTarget web services API and accomplishing some basic tasks via the API.

    Connecting Your Development Environment

Before you can interact with the ExactTarget web service API, you must first configure your development environment to connect with the API. Click the appropriate link below to access instructions on how to configure your specific development environment.

In the sample code examples you find in the web service API documentation, you will see references to etIntegrationFramework, partnerAPI, or other such entities. These represent the name of the proxy to the web service API. You will need to change those instances to the appropriate proxy name for your development environment in order to compile the code sample and use it in your development environment.

You can access the SOAP API WSDL at the link below:

If your ExactTarget account uses the S4 instance, use this address:

    https://webservice.s4.exacttarget.com/etframework.wsdl

If your ExactTarget account uses the S6 instance, use this address:

    https://webservice.s6.exacttarget.com/etframework.wsdl

    Basic API Tasks

You can use the web service API to accomplish several different tasks, but the tasks listed below represent some of the most basic and essential functions you can perform. Using the instructions available by clicking the links below, you can create the subscribers and lists necessary to send your first email.
